Aizu Shuzo Brewery Work Apron - “Kinmon Aizu”

Aizu Shuzo Brewery Work Apron - “Kinmon Aizu”

酒蔵前掛け「会津酒造株式会社 金紋会津」

Aizu Shuzo is a historic sake brewery in Minamiaizu, Fukushima, with over 300 years of craftsmanship. Brewery aprons like this were originally made as promotional items for liquor shops and restaurants, so they were not widely sold to the public—making them rare even within Japan.

With the global rise of Japanese sake, these traditional designs have gained popularity overseas as well. The sake brand Kinmon Aizu, named after the historically significant Aizu region, is one of the area’s long-loved labels.

As a sake distribution services, we have built relationships with sake breweries across Japan.Among those connections, we encountered the "maekake". “Maekake” is an apron that symbolize sake brewing culture. Originally, it was intended to be work attire, worn by people working in sake breweries and sake shops. It was intended to serv as protective gear, shielding clothing and strengthening back support for heavy lifting. Its powerful logo and traditional design are filled with the history and charm of sake culture.
